What is a OTT platform: 

  OTT full form is Over the top media such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO max, Disney+, Hulu, Chorki ,Zee5 and the list goes on. Well nowadays people all around the globe use these platforms but very few people knew about these platforms in details. However, these platforms are increasing day by day in all around the globe. OTT platforms are used for watching web series, movies, documentaries etc on digital devices (Mobile, computer, TV etc) by internet. Users have to pay a reasonable amount of money every month to have the subscriptions of these platforms. 

Major Ott platforms:

throughout the years there have been lots of OTT platforms. Most familiar and famous Netflix and Prime Video started their journey back in 1998 and 2005 respectively. then others came. there are some local and some are internationally recognised, local like in our country Chorki are well recognised these local OTT mainly target local language audience of that region. However other globally recognised platforms (Netflix, Disney+,HBOmax etc) are covering multiple language contents.

Begin and rise:

Though these those first line OTT platforms did not started their journey smoothly because not having much popularity and enough contents. But after some years when especially Netflix and other platforms started executing proper marketing plans and bringing great original and other contents, number of users have been increased every year rapidly. Netflix played a greater role to gain popularity of these OTT platforms by having great contents and satisfying users every day. Which have boosted the popularity of these platforms globally. Now almost every household and people of all ages using these platforms to watch great contents (Movies, series and etc) and its popularity is rapidly increasing day by day. Most Importantly during the time of global pandemic back in 2020 number of users have been doubled of these platforms. Because in that time people were in home, they had the perfect time to use this platform, explore and watch more every day. Moreover, they can access and watch any content of their own will and taste on that particular platform and cost of these platforms are very reasonable. Nowadays, people suggest and spent most of their time of entertainment on OTT. So those days are not far away when OTT Platform will be the major entertainment platform for general people and mass audience because of its popularity and flexibility.

Most of the people including me agree with the fact that Netflix is the most popular OTT platform because of its vast and popular content. But Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ are also the front-line contender of this race. Because of the Marvel Studios content in Disney+, in next couple of years Disney+ will be the most popular OTT platform.
